Acknowledgment of Traditional Lands
In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, the BGC Foothills Clubs would like to acknowledge that we operate on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Nations) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Gahna, and Wesley First Nations. We also acknowledge that we operate on Metis Lands, Region 3. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries and continue to do so today. We honour the land, water, nature and history that help us operate in this beautiful territory. We honour the history and the culture but we also acknowledge the hardships that were endured then and now. We honour the strength, resilience and perseverance of the communities, families, children and youth of these Nations.
